emily went shopping today!

okay, all i bought was banana bread, but i put $20 down on my layby dress, and tried on a few new arrivals at my favourite boutique.

the first one is mypetsquare, which i believe is an australian brand. i don't recall the cost, around $120, i think? so pretty reasonably priced. i found it very 80s avant-garde, i don't know where i'd ever wear it but it's an urgent want.

the second one was shona joy, and i lovelovelove it! i'm absolutely going to buy it. it fit my body so well. i didnt get a photo of the back, but it had a low-plunging backline. i especially liked the way the straps were braided, i thought it was a cute touch. about $170.

if you're wondering, my nail polish is an unidentified dior colour received as a gift from a lovely neighbour - it's beautiful, right?

hmmm, are we out of ideas?

everywhere I look, I see a fashion trend of years past. Roadworks? Fluro clothing. Trees? The hippie boho trend. Even the big sign declaring free wi-fi reminds me of those big slogan t-shirts. Of course, I am a mere blogger, I succumbed to all those trends. But it makes me wonder, what's next? Alexander McQueen thrilled us all on the runway recently with his extravagant, almost scary designs, one greatly resembling a lampshade. But is it practical to expect us all to dress as furniture? Should we start donning seat covers and vases now? I'm very curious to see how these trickle down into chain stores.

outfit of the day photos!

god, the weather outside was frightful today. my umbrella nearly blew up, a la a slapstick comedy. so obviously i had to load on a scarf and tights. by the time i got home for the photo the tights had come off, though, but i'm sure you can imagine my legs being opaque black, right?

outfit of the day and weather report.

it is sooo windy and cold here today! apparently there's a cyclone coming very soon, its already rushing down the coast of my state, and is set to hit my town within a week, so even though Australia is just leaving summer I have a very winter-y outfit on today. no photos yet, but they're coming.

A) a grey textured tanktop
B) the red acid wash deep v-neck shirt from american apparel
C) a cream bubble zipper skirt
D) black wool tights
E) my flat brown vintage ankle boots
F) american apparel black tri-blend scarf.
G) vintage brown handbag.

tres chic, no? haha. photos will be added when i get home from school.

what's YOUR outfit of the day and why?

new earrings!

as some of you might know, i work at a thrift store, and yesterday a lovely elderly woman came in with a few sets of vintage earrings. my ears are unpierced, but i couldnt resist and bought three pairs on the spot for $1 per pair, and then got my ears pierced a half hour later! my photo taking skills are pretty sub-par, but here's a few pictures of the earrings. i think the cameo ones are my favourite but i'd love to hear what anyone else thinks!

some vintage goodness.

as i browsing through perezhilton.com, i clicked on an ad from an old favourite of mine, www.modcloth.com . they stock some brilliant vintage-style clothes, homewares, and even books (styles range from 30s to 80s) and have a small One of a Kind section for real vintage clothes! they add new things literally every day and there's something for everyone. plus (and this is a big plus) everything is very reasonably price, from shirts & blousers around $25 to the $15 jewellery all the way to the $60 dresses (where there's such a wide range you get to decide if you want to be audrey hepburn, madonna, or marilyn monroe).

here's a few of my favourites.

giving in to the money.

hello,

just a quick update to let everyone who reads know that i have just installed ads on my blog, which i'm sure is a bit annoying but they actually make me money anytime you click on one (: that's how perez hilton got rich!

also, i got a new bikini! i don't have a photo *yet* but it's by a great lesser-known brand called flamingo sands, with a website here: http://www.flamingosands.com/ they're also havinga 30% off sale at the moment so jump online and get a great aussie-made swimsuit.

i heard they eat cigarettes.

this melbourne-based brand added me to myspace a few days ago. at first i thought they were a band but i discovered they're actually a grungy urban indie brand from my favourite city in the whole world! i dont own anything from them yet but i can assure you it wont be long. unfortunately they arent available online or outside of the US as of yet, but im going to have a chat with my fave local boutique and also the owners of the brand and hopefully get it stocked nearby so any fashionistas reading this can get in touch with me if they're dying for a piece like i am.

you can get in touch with them at www.myspace.com/iheardtheyeatcigarettes , and for any of you melbourne based kids they're stocked at lady in flinders lane (which you may recognise as being the boutique owned by project runway second runner up petrova!)

wowww. talk about a long break from blogging.

i guess i'm not seasoned enough to call it a break. more like i forgot i owned it. but i'm quite happy to share with anyone out there my favourite purchases since i've been away.

this gorgeous vintage dress is from achildofdestiny at etsy and cost me about $18 + shipping, and i love it! my favourite feature is the skirt but i love all things shiny so the top half is lovely too.

this one (in black) is from shakuhachi, and cost me $270. not quite my usual bargain, but look how pretty it is! it's wet look (dry clean only, ooooh). the only trouble here is i need to actually find a place to wear it.

last photo for this post - ksubi sex & fashion tee. love it! cost me $95, from general pants in melbourne. sooo cute with tights and my hot vintage ankle boots (to come in the next post).

alright, hope you all enjoyed that catch-up. i'll be sure to keep you posted on future purchases xxx
